The History of Trane
Trane has nearly 120 years of experience in the industry, founded in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1885 and incorporated in 1913. The Trane tale is a typical American success story that has gone global in many ways. James Trane was a Norwegian immigrant who founded his plumbing firm in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1885. After being inspired by frigid Wisconsin winters, James Trane developed a revolutionary low-pressure heating system he proudly named the Trane Vapor Heating System. James began manufacturing activities in 1910 with the support of his son Reuben, who had recently graduated from college with a degree in mechanical engineering. Eventually, the Trane Company was founded in 1913. Reuben’s creation of the convector radiator in 1923 cemented the company’s status as an innovator. The company has continued to build on it ever since.
What Makes Trane Different
Every Trane product is meticulously developed and thoroughly tested for dependability and durability. While other manufacturers develop their goods from the same “pool” of parts available to everybody, Trane strives to be different, innovative, and forward-thinking. They do this by designing, fabricating, testing, and rebuilding many of their components. Trane is an industry leader, and your home comfort is second to none, thanks to the unique technology of Trane’s engineered parts.
Trane has 1500 heating and cooling patents and counting! Trane owes that type of progress and success to outstanding engineers throughout history. Trane’s innovative parts include:

Trane Testing
Trane products are placed in 16 weeks of bone-chilling cold and searing heat testing at the SEET (Systems Extreme Environmental Test) lab in Tyler, Texas. This testing recures in two-week cycles. We reaffirm our attitude of providing products you can rely on for years and years by putting our heating and cooling units through 5 years of wear and tear in just a few months.
